🍂 2024 September UX Roundup

Hi community, welcome to our monthly UX roundup.

September has been a productive month for us. How was yours? There’s a lot to cover, so I’ll dive right in!

Reporting

  • Various updates to our previous “Get Result” button:
    • Update the “Get Result” button to “Run”
    • The run status is now clearer with 3 states:
      • Disabled: no change in the viz settings.
      • Run: new awaiting changes.
      • Rerun: run the current viz settings again.

  • We’ve straightened the misalignment between the date operator & input in our Date filter
  • In our User Access tab inside Dashboard Preferences, you can now view the un-named user’s email (instead of a blank space like before).
  • Add an icon to the Model group inside the Viz Condition settings dropdown to distinguish them from the “Used in this report” group.
  • When creating new shareable links, you can recognize the newest one quicker with this new blue dot.

Modeling (A bunch of improvements!)

  • Long awaited features: you can now Undo (Cmd/Ctrl + Z) & Redo in our Visual mode.

  • We’ve improved the file path display in the Commit overview to improve the readability of the file name.

  • When running Reporting Validation, you can see the Owner and Public/Private items.

  • We added a feature to help you navigate to the published Dataset version in Reporting.

  • When renaming a file from the left tree list, you can click outside (or press Enter) to save the new name. We also fixed the issue where the rename input overlaps the file icon. modeling-ux-left-nav-rename-2

  • We added a loading indicator for the Discard button (instead of immediately closing it).

  • Fixed this issue in the Data Import Modal: the data source input breaks when the source name is too long.

  • We’ve fixed the issue where the bottom padding of the left tree list is a bit too high.

  • Unify the design of Data Mode in the Data Model & Dataset.

General UX & UI enhancements

  • In our Shareable Link settings page, some users mistook the Dashboard’s “Shared with” for the Shareable link. We’ve clarified this by changing it to “User Access”.
  • Admins now have the option to disable special events in our General Settings.
  • We’ve made a small tweak to unify the loading in our embed dashboard.
  • Fixed the issue where the SFTP file path overflows when the file name is too long.
  • In Settings, we’ve removed the unnecessary tooltips when expanding the tabs.
  • Fixed the spacing bug in our SQL Editor’s refresh button.
  • Improved our email validation mechanism.

Whew! That’s it for this month. Thank you for reading and looking forward to receiving more feedback from you!
