Prevent browser crashes

When you request too much data from Holistics, the browser can become unresponsive and crash. This provides a VERY bad experience for some of our end users and have driven them away from using this resource. We do of course try to train them to only request smaller datasets, but the definition of “small” is hard to fully define.

Instead of crashing, I would strongly prefer if Holistics could make some guesses about how much memory my browser is capable of dealing with and if I’ve requested too much data on a chart, we should get a message that we’ve requested too much and need to narrow our search. This would be much better than just crashing and having to start over.

Hi Sterling,
I appreciate your suggestion and consider it a valid feature.
I’ll include it in our backlog and assign it to the team for further discussion.
I’ll keep you updated on any progress that occurs.
Thanks,

Hi Sterling,
In the meantime, we would greatly appreciate it if you could provide us with some use cases, and examples. These could include screenshots, links to reports, and similar materials.
You can send it over to [email protected] for data security purposes.
Those examples could help us understand more about the feature.
Thanks,
