Dear Holistics Community :wave:

We are thrilled to share exciting news with you: Your experience with Modeling 4.0 is about to get a lot more enjoyable!

Our Modeling 4.0 aims to provide a collaborative workspace for data analysts. As we’re committed to providing you with the best possible modeling experience, we’ve taken a good, hard look at the current state of Modeling 4.0 and identified common pain points that many of you have shared with us.

We then decided it was time for a more joyful Modeling 4.0.

Problems We Identified

  • Difficulty in navigating and grokking data models due to cumbersome steps (click preview data, drag and drop fields, get results, etc.).
  • Lack of visibility into important information about the model, such as data structure and context.
  • High context-switching costs between viewing and editing, resulting in a fragmented workflow.

Major Improvements

We’re introducing a comprehensive revamp to the interface of Modeling 4.0!

:art: Visual List View Changes

Visual List View will now only contain the Fields List (Dimensions, Measures, Params) while metadata (Description, Label, Owner) will be relocated to the Right Panel for better visibility.

:jigsaw: New Data View

We Introduce a new Data view alongside Code and Visual views. Data view acts as a replacement for the Preview action, providing a seamless way to understand the model and dataset context. We also provide new Select All & Clear All buttons to help you quickly preview your data.

:zap: Simplified Workflow:

Dimensions and measures can now be easily added and previewed directly in the Data View, reducing the need for context-switching.

We believe these changes will significantly enhance your workflow, providing a more intuitive and streamlined experience when working on the Semantic Layer - developing models, and datasets, building metrics, and creating dashboards.

We’re continuing to improve our interface with more features will come next, eg:

  • Improve dataset interface
  • Improve our metrics-develop (create, test/preview, debug) process
  • Simplified interface and concept
  • Hotkeys and command palette

We understand that change can be challenging, but we are confident that these improvements will make your interactions with Modeling 4.0 more efficient and enjoyable.

Hello @talenodigital, Thank you for your enthusiasm! The new UI is in the final stages of development and we anticipate its release within the next 2 weeks. To ensure you get a first-hand experience, I’ll personally notify you once it becomes available.
