Bulk archive/hide dashboards

Hey all, we’re in the process of switching our data sources from BigQuery to Athena. Pretty much migrated all of our dashboards to the new data source so we’re just about ready to switch off and delete the BigQuery data source in Holistics. However, we want to give our users an opportunity to shout before we do anything permanent. So I guess what we want to do is kind of hide or archive the dashboards for a short while so that if suddenly someone realises they need it we have a chance to rebuild with the new data source. Most of these dashboards are legacy so not saved as code in Github.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to do this? Couple of things we thought about:

  • Revoking access to the specific “To be deleted” folder. This doesn’t work for us though because quite a few of our users are Analyst and so they do have access to everything.
  • Moving the entire “To be deleted” folder to my own personal archive. This could work, but it would be pretty painful having to copy each dashboard one by one (no option to move in bulk, can only copy one at a time). Also not ideal if I get hit by a bus/win the lottery.
Are there any other options for this?

Hi @Ian_McLaren ,
Thank you for your question.

If your goal is to know if any legacy dashboard are viewed so that you can evaluate the priority to rebuild it, Usage Monitoring might help.

Currently, Holistics doesn’t support archiving dashboards. Because most of your users are analysts, moving dashboards to the Private space by copying them one by one (bulk copy is not supported) is the most feasible solution to entirely hide them at the moment.

If you choose to just hide dashboards from Business Users or simply to centralize all the legacy dashboards, you can use bulk move all filles in a folder to a “To be deleted” folder with restricted permission.

If you have any concerns, please let me know!
