Data table - sum row columns

Hello,
I have a data table viz and using a sum row. But for some of the columns it doesn’t make sense… For example one of them is an invoice number. It’s an integer value, but it doesn’t make any sense to calculate a sum. Another is a percentage based on 2 other columns. An average of this column might make sense, but a sum sure does not.

Is there a way to exclude specific columns from the Sum Row feature?

Hi David,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

To better understand your request and provide more accurate solutions, could you please add some screenshots and elaborate on the difficulties you’re facing more? We look forward to hearing from you.

I’m not sure if it would help in your specific usecase, but we’ve used pivot tables (without actually pivoting on something) for more accurate totals. They do summaries by calculating the metric for the whole group instead of a straight sum of everything in the column (so percentages would be a percentage of the whole rather than the sum of percentages for each group). It should also avoid sums of numeric dimensions if they’re added in as rows instead of values.

Here’s a couple threads of feature suggestions we’ve made for data tables:
